About our fundraiser…we have 30 days to sell nearly 200 tickets.
I want to empathize that we really need your support in order to make this
fundraiser work. We MUST have 200 entries in order to meet our goal. Please
help and e-mail me if you have questions.
q Fundraiser – This is our first fundraiser. Please visit http://www.strokenetwork.org/memberzone/fundraiser/scooter.htm. We hope to raise at least $5,000. This is not an unrealistic objective. This e-mail is distributed to well over 600 people. If each person were to sell just 1 ticket we could reach our goal easily. The tickets are selling for $25 and the price is valued at approximately $2,500. A $25 ticket, with 200 tickets, minimum, being sold, is a fantastic deal.
§ The prize is a mobility scooter, which is being donated by one of our members, Charlie LeFever. Charlie is a stroke survivor and a scooter distributor. He understands what stroke survivors need and the potential benefits of having one can do for the quality of your life.
§ Charlie is offering a fantastic warranty and free shipping within the continental USA. This is not only the perfect opportunity for our organization to purchase some of the things necessary to making this a much better non-profit organization but this is the perfect prize for our members.
§ Tickets are not just limited to our members. You can sell a ticket to friends, relatives, church members, retirement homes, neighbors, etc. Virtually anybody who can benefit from not having to walk any distance is going to love this item.
q We have our own message board, finally! This is probably the very best message board that I’ve seen; it has quite a few new features. This same type of message board is even used in some places by Microsoft. No more pop-up advertisements or annoying banners. This is one of the things that we were able to buy with monies that we have had donated. The new board should be up and running within the next week. We will be starting our forums with new posts.
q It looks like we are going to have a new partner. We will be partnering with a new non-profit organization that has tons of information on aphasia. We know that this is a terrible side effect of stroke and hope that you will find added information at this web site. They will begin writing articles for the newsletter probably next month.
q We need your bios and pictures for our Members Zone web page. This area is where you get to see who else is a member of our organization and learn what they went through with their stroke. Check out http://www.strokenetwork.org/memberszone/ and submit your information to Lin Wisman at Lwisman@strokenetwork.org.
q I also wanted to invite you all again to join our support mailing lists. We have a group of about 100 members who belong to the Stroke Support list. We talk about daily issues relating to stroke and other issues requiring support. This list is primarily for the survivor. We also have a list for the stroke caregiver. This list is a place where you can ask questions or vent your problems. We have about 80 members on this list and are here for your support.
q Remember the Mentor Program? It’s still here and is waiting for those of you who are a new stroke survivor and need that one on one support. If you need a cyberfriend to help you during the early stages of stroke please join, go to http://www.strokesupport.org/.
