I am a 55 year old brain stem stroke survivor. My stroke occurred over three years ago. At first I could only "blink my eyes." I was paralyzed from the neck down. I had a neck trachea, and a stomach tube. They are both gone now. I breathe on my own and feed myself. I'm content. I had surgery to correct a severe drop foot. I can walk with a walker. All the doctor's said the prognosis was poor. They are just interested in keeping me alive. With help of my wife, family, and friends I have some "quality of life." I live in a noosing home, but someday I will go home.
