"I join Strokenet a few weeks ago but previously I was reading different testimonials on the site. I find it very informative. I am a brainstem stroke survivor. My life changed June 16, 2007 and I'm hoping to make new friends and share information and also to get and give encouragement. I know I am still here by God's grace and mercy and I'm still here for a reason." |

"Thank God for this wonderful group! It was and is still a valuable tool in learning how to deal with the effects of strokes. I did not get much information from the doctors and had to rely on my research to learn more about what had happened. I found this site by exploring the internet when I could do little else. It was a divine intervention for me! I have made genuine friendships on this site. It is nice to know there are people out there that really do care; even long after the event. Keep up all the good work and may God bless you all. This site has invaluable information that I have not been able to find anywhere else. Thanks for being there for me and all the others that have gone down this road. :)" |

"Hello, I had a locked-in brainstem stroke on Christmas Eve day 1999 at the age of 29. 8 years ago I had a very hard time finding information on stroke or support but because of the support in knowing I wasen't alone came from an onlinesupport group I found here on StrokeNetwork. It helped me to form my own online support and information group. I have found that THERE IS! life after stroke. Thank you Steve for founding this great site. " Kristi O'Donnell |

"I have been surviving a stroke for 13 years and I still can’t speak. Stoke.Net been around for me in those 13 years and I been absent for 3-6 years. During those absent 3-6 years of surviving those up’s and down’s of a stroke, I needed a place to go to hear others dealing with this thing called stroke. Hear at Stroke.Net you get just that! BTW- I had my stroke at age 28 in 1994. Dave Daul " David Daul |

"Strokenet was a "gem" in the cyber world. I received very little information from my Dr's. I was also given timelines for recovery. Finding strokenet mad me feel what I was experiencing was "normal", I was NOT alone. I was not losing my mind. Others here have walked this same path, and understand me. I am greatful for all the support and information. From this site I have been inspired to push for more recovery, to NOT give up. I feel I have gained more progress and skills from being a member. I am honored to be on Staff and to help give back what I have received...HOPE & INSPIRATION !" |
"For the past 3 1/2 years, since my husbands brain stem stroke - resulting in Central Pain, I have relied on The StrokeNetwork for valuable information about drugs - what has worked or not from other participants; for moral support from other caregivers and the staff; and mostly to know that we are not alone - you are a life line! I thank you all for your selfless dedication. Sincerely Sandra (mexicomama)" |
"Strokent is a way of helping give back to all the courageous strokesurvivors who answered my questions during my first moths and years post stroke. I enjoy meeting new survivors and letting them know that not all is lost with a stroke as long as you are alive and can use your computer" |
"I don't know what I would have done if there hadn't been this wonderful place where I can feel comfortable discussing my drooling or sharing my stroke info." |
"StrokeNet is a very valuable thing in my life. It gives me lots of information and indescrible support. My stroke was 2 days before Xmas in 2000. I went through H--- survived it. Then after I relearned how to use this computer(was taught on a program that I could speak to & it would type it). Maybe 1 yr. after that is when I discovered strokenet and many of my problems then seemed quite trivial. It helps me tremendously to see others who have or had problems like mine and see there is always HOPE. The one thing that really helps me alot is to see that it is slow and ongoing. Many things the Dr.s told me I didn't accept(or couldn't) so many of my ideas came from this site. " |
"Well, strokenet has been a total experience in information, support and knowledge through each persons own experiences with their individual strokes. So many people, so many strokes happened in so many ways to people from across the world and this network reaches out to all of them. That's remarkable how the site can reach out and touch so many lives by sharing information about strokes, recovery and what can normally be expected of survivors based on so many cases and types of strokes people suffer including the very young and in some cases, babies. Yes, they suffer strokes too. Strokenet is one of a kind providing everyone an opportunity to be better informed about strokes and recovery. " |
"Strokenet has given helpful information, support and challenge for the continued recovery from my stroke 8 years ago. It is a place to get honest answers to my many questions" |
"I LOVE STROKENET! I had my stroke two years ago when I was 29. It was the most difficult time in my life. I found strokenet by accident. I posted for the first time and was immediately welcomed by all the wonderful people. I live in a very rural area and so there are no support groups here. It is great to know that I have a place to go when things aren't going to well!" |
"Strokenet was and is a new chapter of our lives. When our daughter Rachel had her stroke on 2/17/06, it was devastating. We felt so all alone. When I found strokenet, I was truly amazed at how many people around the world are also touched by stroke, whether you are the survivor, caretaker, a family member, or a friend, there is something here for everybody. I thank God for my new cyber friends and for this great place to come and find valuable information, to vent, or just to chat. I am thankful for a place to come and feel connected through a great organization." |
"Strokenet has been a candle in the darkness for me. I know now that I am not alone, that others understand what I am going through. My friends and family want to help, but only the strokenet folks can really 'get it'. I know that I can always come here for support." |
"I've been here as a survivor over two years and found the site by going to a local stroke group meeting shortly after my release from a 4 month stay in the hospital and rehab. It's the only site I've ever been on and from what others say who has visited other sites, this is second to NONE. I strongly agree. I've gained so much information here and have been inspired by the operation of a well run organization that helps so many people understand more about stroke recovery, care giving, and family support. Best source of information on the world wide web for any stroke survivor." |
"This website is fabulous. I has gived me an online community to watch, listen and contribute to. I found it a comfort early on when I couldn't sleep. Recently I sent a woman having that very problem. I have especially loved the humor and spiritually uplifting parts. We are all carrying on." |
"The strokenetwork provides information about what is(acknowledgement and connection to my life struggles/conquests today) and more importantly hope of what could be my tomorrow!" george hollahan |
"I had my stroke 8 years ago when I was 32. I was given no information about a stroke support group, American Stroke Association, etc. Stokenetwork has been invaluable to me. Knowing that I am not the only young one struggling with life after a stroke is wonderful. I feel like a am a real person again. " |
"The Stroke Network is invaluable. We came across it about a year after my husband's major stroke, several years ago. It saved us. Full of information. Thank you." |

"When I first found Strokenet it was probably the second night after my husband had his stroke. I had come home for a shower and change of clothes and had Jim's clothes in my hands and a pile of paperwork from the hospital on the desk beside me. I was terrified that I was going to lose him, sll these forms I signed, did I make the right decisions letting them do this or that procedure? What had I done? They kept running at me and telling me things in terms I couldn't understand and sometimes there would be two or three specialists or nurses or wharever in my face and I was so alone and so scared. So I started looking for help. When I found Strokenet I knew this was the place that I was supposed to come to. The people here are like a second family to me and I rely on them for advice or opinions so that I can make the right decisions. I'm not alone anymore and that means the world to me and so does Strokenet. " |
"I visit everyday since I found this site after my husband's stroke. I have gotten alot of postive feedback and everyone who is a member are so helpful. I do not feel so alone in the battle of post stroke. " |
"Sometimes I need to vent. Other times, I need to write something down so I can figure out the solution to a problem. This site affords me the understanding from people who are experiencing the same challenges I face and their support and celebratory tones when I accomplish something. This is a safe and supportive place. Thank you for all that." |
"I don't have anyone in my life that can understand the challenges in my life and the resulting frustration and depression. When I am feeling down, I know I can log on and I am reminded that there are others out there like me, surviving!" |
"Strokenet is my light that guides me daily back out of the tendency to let the depression and grief of losing my old self. Daily, I have the privilege of talking to others who have gne through or are going through this recovery and start of a new life post-stroke. I am continually amazed by those I talk to for their resiliency, bravery and calmness. It has literally become my lifeline to the outside world - I can talk to other survivors without having to continually explain myself or having to deal with the inevitable pity that comes into people's eyes sometimes when you tell them you survived - no pity parties here! Life goes on and we enjoy it here in our online community. :)" |
"Strokenet is that extra lifeline when you need it. Its also therapeutic when you get lonely. I can go there and get helpful information. " Sherry Roupe |

"Strokenet shows the multi facited effects of strokes, each person different in the results and recovery. Each battle a struggle. The net shows we all face the same struggle of survival and keeping hope alive with small steps of success through shared information. " |

"I survived a stroke on 12/31/06, at the age of 33. I wasn't able to get into a stroke support group at my hospital, and ended up feeling very alone. Then I discovered this network, and the mood of my recovery changed for the better." |
"this is anoother to meet people with the same issues im dealing with, and gives me a placce to go and learn and share my problems and solutions with others , or just to vent because you will always be able to find someone here that has or had the same feeling at one time or another." |
"StrokeNet were they hands in the darkness that helped me let go of my past and learn to love the life I now have. I stoked at the age of 22, so, of course, none of my friends knew what I was going through. I felt alone and lost, but once I joined S. N. I was instantly surrounded by people who truly understood what I was going through. I will always be grateful for this site " |

"Strokenet has been a lifeline for me. As a caregiver for my mother who is a stroke survivor I often have thought and feelings that I cannot express to "regular" people. Here I have a pool of people who understand." |
"I love the strokenet site and am so happy that I found it.. It has helped me greatly in my effort to cope with the problems of being a caregiver and trying to make sense of the whole terrible ordeal. I thank God for all the understanding people and welcome all the advise and encouragement that is offered. The blogs are so uplifting, enjoyable, and informative. Some of the bloggers have a real knack for writing with both humor and compassion which is sometimes needed. Right now I am trying to get my life in order, both personal and finanicial.A tip of the hat to all the people who do such a great job of organizing and keeping the boards up and running.. I hope to have more time to blog like all of you talented and imaginitive people.. Deenie" deenie halewich |

"I joined Stroke Net about two months after my husband's third stroke. The help and encouragement I receive here on a daily basis helps me see our life from a positive perspective. No one understands my situation like someone who has already walked this path. I'm so very thankful for each and every member here who chooses to help another. " |
"In the short time (one week) I have been here, I have really met some interesting and inspirational people. I look forward to visiting each day. Thank you for being there." |
"What does Stroke net mean to me? A handy tool for all stroke survivors to become familiar, becoming informed and reading the relevant material that is essential to know about. My personel experience from a five-time stroke survivor, I walked the New York City Marathon, a Maori woman with a disability, a permanent limp, I managed. Priceless, sacrificing thesa challenges, I made it happen. A proud moment for myself and all athletes, partaking in any event, believing in oneself help to build up the courage to carry on. If at anytime I can help people by walking together, not running because of my impairment, we can have fun with the training schedule. This is my interpretation of how I have to terms as a multiple stroke survivor. " Violet Lawrence |

"We were strugglin after Rolly's stroke. It was well past the six months that the doctor had told us would be the "marker" for how much he would recover. Discouraged, I turned to the internet and found this website. You have literally saved our lives! At last we have hope and faith that life does go on, maybe just not in the same way as we had once experienced. But every day is a new day, and another day to enjoy being alive. Thank you for helping me find the strength and courage to keep on keeping on!" |
"On April 30th, 2007, I will celebrate (and yes, I will celebrate) my first anniversary of my stroke. I never thought I'd say that, but thanks to the support of such wonderful people here at StrokeNet who've all been through the stroke experience, I can say with confidence that I should celebrate. What a great place to vent, cry, laugh, get support from others and give support to others. Thank you so much for giving us survivors a forum to be ourselves--especially when so many others have written us off or just plain don't understand what we've all been through. " Karen Knutson |
"I've gotten more knowledge about my stroke and recovery than I got from my doctors and my rehab people. They would say things like "100% recovery" and walk away - no info or any idea about what this wait and battle game would be like. Actually, maybe their no direct info has been able to build my faith. I had only the Lord to lead me and guide me. He put me into touch with people I could afford and who could come and help. The Lord and His timeing have done the most to help me recover. Actually, I am going to offer free counseling to stroke patients so they can have knowledge as they fight their way back to having a normal life. Thanks" |
"StrokeNet helps both my husband and me to stay focused on our tasks at hand. We are inspired by the stories and hopeful for our own future. We laugh, cry and thank God for the new day that we have to spend together with our son. We know we can deal with this curve and it's nice to know that we aren't alone." |
"I survived a stroke I experienced 1-1-05. The support and encouragement I have received from everyone involved with the Strokenetwork website has been invaluable to me. Strokenetwork has been my lifesaver. I now look forward to daily living instead of being swallowed by depression. I have Hope for my future as well as the opportunity to assist and encourage others. Thank you Strokenetwork. " |
